The wine industry has had a 'clean' image for many years, however, increases in environmental awareness is placing pressure on the industry to achieve greater environmental standards.

Coomes developed an Environmental Management System EMS for Hickinbotham Winery. The EMS reviewed and assessed the environmental aspects and impacts of the winery, vineyard and cellar door/restaurant.

Environmental objectives and targets were set and environmental management plans developed, including the implementation of water and wastewater reuse, waste reduction schemes (composting and recycling) and staff awareness programs.
