Hamilton Street was scheduled for reconstruction as part of Council?s asset management programme.

In accordance with Council policy and recognising opportunities that such works offer, all sections of Council and residents of the street were engaged in confirming and endorsing a concept plan as a basis for detailed design and construction.

The concept design addressed the residents opinions, opportunities for local traffic management and incorporated actions from Council policies and strategies including

• street tree strategy (existing trees to be replaced)
• the open space strategy (locality being short of open space)
• bicycle strategy.
