During the development of Botanica Park Estate the endangered Southern Bell Frog (Litoria raniformis) was discovered.
Developer Australand, and Coomes were advocates for the protection of this endangered species and resolved to create a new wetland habitat that would serve the dual purpose of treating stormwater and providing habitat for the frogs.
Coomes Consulting provided inhouse landscape architectural and civil/hydraulic engineering services. Coomes also worked closely with consultant Ecologist Peter Robinson of Wildlife Profiles to determine appropriate selection and placement of rocks and logs surrounding the wetland.
The wetland has been established successfully and is a thriving habitat for the frogs and other fauna. The stormwater retardation function has been equally successful and has integrated seamlessly into the environment.
