Coomes worked closely with Woolworths Limited's architects to ensure that the proposed RDC complied with the relevant design and siting guidelines.
Considrations included appearance of the facility, site access and circulation of heavy transport vehicles, provision of car parking, site drainage and management of stormwater, security and fencing, truck washing bays and enhancing energy efficiency.
The philosophy underpinning the landscape design of the development responds strongly to the open pastoral character of the surrounding area. The landscape design also expresses a response to the need for sustainable outcomes by maximising absorptive landscape areas to enhance on-site infiltration of stormwater, complementing the water sensitive design of paved areas and siting planting to enhance the energy efficiency of the buildings.
Significant engineering analysis was undertaken with regard to the drainage and treatment of stormwater. The stormwater disposal system is a gravity free draining system, and a stormwater retardation basin will be provided on the northern boundary to retard the 100 year event back to pre-developed rates of discharge. Car and truck parking areas may also be utilised for storage of stormwater.
