Local strip shopping centres are vital components of our urban areas in terms of their contribution to neighbourhood lifestyle, employment and income.

Cities recognise that they are also the ?shop windows? of the locality and their appearance and success influences both resident and visitor impressions of the municipality.

This project is concerned with the urban design of selected shopping centres in the Moonee Valley City area and therefore with the local community, its economy and asset management.

It is about identifying local character and preparing concept designs that reflect this and enable council and the local community (including traders) to plan ahead for future development.

The project fits within council?s wider strategies for economic development and asset management and is intended to contribute to future capital works programs.
