Gateway Island is poised to become a highly significant tourist destination in southeastern Australia.

he site is located on an island surrounded by the Murray River and Wodonga Creek, between the twin cities of Albury and Wodonga in New South Wales and Victoria respectively.

The island straddles the east and west side of the Lincoln Causeway with the majority of the developable land on the west side of the Causeway.

A significant portion of the island is leased by CSR for sand and gravel extraction, the legacy of this activity is highly exposed open cut quarries that create a series of large water bodies, one already popular with recreational water skiers and sailors.
